Exploring the things around, we keep on moving uphill and to Sansa. Walking through the woods, the next destination we reach is Phunki Tenga and ultimately Tengboche. We take an overnight stay at a lodge.
With the spiritual energy and the excellent breakfast, the excursion begins through the jig jag trail over and leaving it behind, we set to Dingboche. The path guides us through the woods and the alpine vegetation. The trail sets through the stone steps and crosses a bridge at Syomare that we head steadily through the flat course to Dingboche. Useful Info
Do You Need a Guide and Porter for the Everest Base Camp Trek?
As of April 2023, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) introduced a nationwide rule requiring all foreign trekkers to hire a licensed guide when trekking in Nepal, including the Everest region. This policy aims to improve trekker safety, support local employment, and reduce risks in high-altitude areas.
Solo Trekkers – What You Need to Know
While Everest Base Camp has historically been open to solo trekkers, the new rule technically bans trekking alone without a registered guide. In practice, however, the Everest (Solukhumbu) region still loosely enforces this rule, and many independent trekkers are still being issued permits. That said, the situation can change anytime, and enforcement may increase.
Why Hiring a Guide & Porter Is a Smart Choice
Even if not strictly enforced at all checkpoints, trekking with a licensed guide and/or porter offers major advantages:
- Official compliance with NTB rules
- Navigation support on difficult trails
- Cultural insights and local knowledge
- Logistics help for permits, lodges, and food
- Porter assistance to carry heavy gear
-
Emergency support in case of altitude issues or injuries
To make your Everest adventure safe, legal, and worry-free, Adventure Highpass Treks strongly recommends booking your trek with a licensed guide and porter. It not only supports local livelihoods but ensures that you're fully prepared for the challenges of high-altitude trekking.
